ABOUT THE ROLE

The Director of Account Strategy is critical at 1AX, supporting clients with developing holistic digital marketing programs. This role is 50% big ideas, 25% actioning the strategies that come from the big ideas, and 25% thought leadership.

The 1AX secret sauce combines deep knowledge of hospitality marketing principles with digital marketing expertise to make insightful recommendations. It is the ASD’s responsibility to intimately learn each client's business and provide revenue-driving solutions. The right fit will be responsible for the following:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy - 50%

  • Holds a deep knowledge of all areas of digital marketing - SEO, Paid Search, Paid Media, Programmatic, Paid, Social, Email - and knows which levers to pull to have the highest impact results.

  • Leads new hotel onboarding from understanding the hotel and its market to recommending a comprehensive media budget, and developing a multi-prong marketing plan.

  • Holds an arsenal of ideas to drive transient room nights, meeting and event business, groups, weddings, food and beverage activations, and ancillary revenue.

  • Stays on top of industry trends and emerging technologies, eager to test new digital tools, vet new partnerships, and bring fresh ideas to our clients. They’ll measure the success of new tools and comprehensively add them to the 1AX toolbox.

  • Loves analytics - they know their way around GA4, Looker Studio, and Excel pivot tables. In this role, they will create and measure test plans, complete ad hoc analyses, and iterate on results.

  • Prioritizes hotel digital marketing strategies based on the hotel’s goals and need periods, anticipating client needs, always thinking one step ahead, and presenting proactive plans and strategies.

Tactical Execution - 25%

  • No task is too small at 1AX, and all team members support implementing our strategies. As an ASD, part of every day will be spent working on tactical execution.

  • Examples include editing ad copy in Google Ads, creating paid social media ads, updating website content, proofreading marketing emails, claiming third-party listings, writing title tags and metadata, crafting website information architecture, and more.

  • The ASD is expected to adhere to 1AX project management standards, utilizing internal tools, templates, and processes as directed.

Thought Leadership - 25%

  • You’re a true Digital Marketing and Hotel Marketing expert. You bring a deep understanding of digital channels and hospitality-specific strategies that drive results.

  • You’re a “geek who can speak,” operating as a technical expert who can break down digital marketing techniques into basic terms, and can confidently educate hotel teams on the what and the why of strategy.

  • You’re a 1AX thought leader, regularly sharing best practices, new ideas, and trends to raise the collective knowledge of the team.

  • You tell stories with data. You synthesize key client insights and use data and visuals to craft compelling, strategy-driven narratives.

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate meets the following criteria –

  • 5-7 years of experience working within a marketing leadership role at a full-service hotel or a digital agency with hospitality clients. Multi-property responsibilities required.

  • 4+ years of experience managing paid marketing campaigns.

  • 4+ years of experience managing organic marketing campaigns.

  • Identifies as a motivated self-starter and clear communicator, demonstrating the ability to manage multiple clients and vendors while staying organized, enterprising, and with incredible attention to detail.

  • Comfortable with the nuances of a small business, like changing priorities and creative problem-solving.

  • Expertise in Google Analytics, Looker Studio, Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Meta Ads, Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager, Search Marketing tools, Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, Asana, Revinate, MailChimp.

  • An insatiable curiosity and love of emerging trends (AI, TikTok, etc).

  • Loves travel, hotels, restaurants, and pop culture.

  • Base salary and bonus is $120-$143K based on experience.

  • The role is a fully remote, full-time position. San Francisco is preferred, but not required.

  • Travel may be required up to 15% of the time.
