ABOUT THE ROLE

The Managing Director is a pivotal leadership role at 1AX, responsible for steering the agency's strategic direction, ensuring operational excellence, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. This role is 50% team development, 25% strategic vision & thought leadership, and 25% operational leadership,.

In this role, you'll work closely with our CEO to shape the future of 1AX, ensuring we remain at the forefront of hotel marketing innovation. You'll oversee day-to-day operations, mentor our talented team, and build strong relationships with our hotel partners to drive their marketing success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Development – 50%

This role will have 5 direct reports.

  • Embody the 1AX core values of kindness, collaboration, curiosity, excellence, and hustle.

  • Mentor and support our team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

  • Support human resource strategy, providing input on key topics such as company policies, succession planning, and performance reviews.

  • Lead agency recruitment efforts to attract top talent aligned with our values and mission.

  • Encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing to build a cohesive and high-performing team.

Strategic Vision & Thought Leadership – 25%

  • Develop and implement strategies that align with our mission of providing the highest quality, holistic marketing support and acting as an extension of each client’s in-house team.

  • Identify growth opportunities and lead initiatives to expand our service offerings and client base.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, bringing fresh ideas to keep 1AX ahead of the curve.

  • Share insights and best practices to continue to position 1AX as a thought leader in hotel marketing.

Operational Leadership – 25%

  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness across all departments.

  • Manage the agency arm’s capacity planning and forecasting to ensure the agency's profitability and sustainability.

  • Implement and refine processes to enhance productivity and service delivery.

  • Cultivate relationships with clients, key stakeholders, and partners to drive innovation and growth.

  • At 1AX, no task is too small, and all team members support implementing our strategies. As a Managing Director, part of your week-to-week will be spent working on tactical execution to provide additional support and coverage to the 360 team.

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate meets the following criteria –

  • 7+ years of experience in a people management leadership role in hospitality marketing

  • Passionate about mentoring smart teams and creating the environment and structure for them to thrive.

  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing strategies.

  • Strong understanding of hotel industry metrics and KPIs.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Expertise in digital marketing channels, including SEO, Paid Search, Paid Media, Programmatic, Social, and Email.

  • Proficiency in analytics tools such as GA4, Looker Studio, and Excel.

  • Passion for hospitality, travel, and delivering exceptional client experiences.

details

  • Base salary is $155,000–$165,000, based on experience.

  • Competitive bonus structure.

  • The role is a fully remote, full-time position. San Francisco is preferred, but not required.

  • Travel may be required up to 15% of the time.
