ABOUT THE ROLE
The Managing Director is a pivotal leadership role at 1AX, responsible for steering the agency's strategic direction, ensuring operational excellence, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. This role is 30% strategic vision, 30% operational leadership, 30% team development, and 10% thought leadership.
In this role, you'll work closely with our CEO to shape the future of 1AX, ensuring we remain at the forefront of hotel marketing innovation. You'll oversee day-to-day operations, mentor our talented team, and build strong relationships with our hotel partners to drive their marketing success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Vision – 30%
Develop and implement strategies that align with our mission of providing the highest quality, holistic marketing support and acting as an extension of each client’s in-house team.
Identify growth opportunities and lead initiatives to expand our service offerings and client base.
Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, bringing fresh ideas to keep 1AX ahead of the curve.
Operational Leadership – 30%
Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness across all departments.
Manage the agency arm’s capacity planning and forecasting to ensure the agency's profitability and sustainability.
Implement and refine processes to enhance productivity and service delivery.
Team Development – 30%
Embody the 1AX core values of kindness, collaboration, curiosity, excellence, and hustle.
Mentor and support our team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Support human resource strategy, providing input on key topics such as company policies, succession planning, and performance reviews.
Lead agency recruitment efforts to attract top talent aligned with our values and mission.
Encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing to build a cohesive and high-performing team.
Thought Leadership – 10%
Represent 1AX on social media, industry events, and in publications to enhance our visibility and reputation.
Share insights and best practices to continue to position 1AX as a thought leader in hotel marketing.
Cultivate relationships with clients, key stakeholders, and partners to drive innovation and growth.
ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate meets the following criteria –
7+ years of experience in a people management leadership role within a digital marketing agency, preferably with a focus on hospitality or travel.
Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing strategies.
Strong understanding of hotel industry metrics and KPIs.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Expertise in digital marketing channels, including SEO, Paid Search, Paid Media, Programmatic, Social, and Email.
Proficiency in analytics tools such as GA4, Looker Studio, and Excel.
Passion for hospitality, travel, and delivering exceptional client experiences.

Base salary is $155,000–$165,000, based on experience.
Competitive bonus structure.
The role is a fully remote, full-time position. San Francisco is preferred, but not required.
Travel may be required up to 15% of the time.
